Chairs: MEP Spyros Danellis (Greece, S&D, Delegation for Relations with the Palestinian Legislative Council)

Born on 28 January 1955 in Kritis, MEP Syros Danellis is member of the Delegation for relations with the Palestinian Legislative Council. Member of the Greek Parliament from 1996 to 2000, he was also Mayor of Hersonissos (Crete) from 2003 to 2009.

Born on 5 June 1947 in New Caledonia, MEP Maurice Ponga is member of the Development Committee, the Delegation to the Cariforum and the Delegation for relations with Australia and New Zealand. He was Member of the National Assembly for 10 years.

The “Islands and Overseas Entities” Group will notably address the following issues:
  • The coherence of the Natura 2000 network
  • Desertification
  • Particular situation of Overseas Entities
  • OCTA
  • Specific fund for biodiversity
  • Network and regional cooperation
  • Redefinition of less favourable areas
