Intergroup activities for 2012
With 31 events organised in 2011, the EP Intergroup “Climate Change, Biodiversity and Sustainable Development” confirmed that it is the most active Intergroup in the EP.
There is no doubt that the Intergroup is gaining increasing interest and influence inside as well as outside the EP. The consultation on the Intergroup’s activities for 2012 was a success, since the Secretariat got over 150 suggestions of topics from over 50 organisations - policy makers, private sector, NGOs, experts etc.With over 35 events planned, the agenda of meetings for the Intergroup in 2012 is extremely ambitious. The events will seek to provide reliable and balanced information allowing the EP to:
- Prepare and define its positions on important International processes, namely the International Water Forum, Rio+20, UNFCCC COP17, CBD COP11, and CITES COP16.
- Prepare and define its positions on EU issues under discussion such as the CAP and CFP Reform, the 2050 Energy Roadmap, decarbonising transport, and the review of REACH etc.
