Born on 10 March 1948 in Ireland, MEP Pat the Cope Gallagher is Chair of the Delegation for relations with Switzerland and Norway and to the EU-Iceland Joint Parliamentary Committee and the European Economic Area (EEA) Joint Parliamentary Committee. Member of the Committee on fisheries, he was Minister of State notably at the Department of Environment (2002-2004) and of Transport (2006-2007).
The “Fisheries and aquaculture” Group will notably address the following issues:
- IUU fishing
- Discards
- Decentralisation
- Relations with Third countries
- Industrial versus artisanal fisheries
- Sustainable aquaculture
