EBCD’s activities are mainly focused on :

Fisheries, Aquaculture, Ocean Policy

Rural Development
-
International Environmental Agreements /Conventions (CITES, CBD,
IWC and other UN bodies such as the Food and Agriculture
Organisation (FAO).
In relation to these topics EBCD :
-
monitors EU and global environmental policy and
other related policies such as fisheries, agriculture forestry,
rural development trade and environment.
-
provides information analysis and advise to policy makers, users
and managers worldwide.
-
facilitates contacts with key policy-makers of the EU (informs
targeted EU institutions - Commission, Parliament, Economic and
Social Committee, and Council - and seeks to ensure that EU policies
are consistent with sustainable development principles).
-
undertakes EU funded conservation and development projects both
in the EU and in developing countries and facilitates contacts with
NGOs and government agencies in obtaining project funding from the
EU.
-
advises and facilitates access to EU funding.
-
organises seminars, workshops and conferences.
EBCD at EU level
EBCD works closely and collaborates with the various European Union
(EU) Institutions namely the European Commission, the European
Parliament and the Permanent Representations of the members states as
well as the European Economic and Social Committee( EESC), Committee of the Regions
(CoR).
EBCD is working closely with the European Parliament and particularly
with the Committees on Fisheries, Environment, Agriculture, Development, Agriculture
and Regional Development.
Specifically, EBCD :
-
monitors the works of the Parliament on related issues,
-
advises Members of the Parliament,
-
advises on European parliament procedures and on developing
strategies for dealing with the Parliament.

facilitates
contacts with MEPs
Moreover EBCD provides the secretariat to the Intergroup of
Sustainable development in the European Parliament since its

With regard to the European Commission, EBCD works closely with DG Fisheries
& Maritime Affairs, DG Environment,
DG Development, DG Trade and DG Transport & Energy.
EBCD
participates in various NGO consultations and experts groups of the
European Commission such as :

the Advisory Committee of Fisheries and
Aquaculture (DG FISH)

the Regional Advisory Councils, RACs (DG FISH)

the Biodiversity Expert Group (DG ENV)

the Marine Strategy (DG ENV)
